On a Cold and Blustery Day…

Writing by jennifer on Sunday, 2 of December , 2007 at 12:08 pm

This morning at 6AM. I (in my PJs) headed into the office- working for about two and a half hours.   I’m back home now and will be for the next couple of hours- then I head back in again.  I’d so much rather stay home and curl up with a warm kitty.

The rain alternates between pouring and drizzle.  The wind is starting to pick up a bit.  I just started a fire in the fireplace to try to shoo away the cold, unwelcoming air that hangs heavy in my apartment.  I’ll enjoy it for the next couple of hours at least…  Hopefully, it’ll still be going strong when I return home from work.    The storm is supposed to become more intense this afternoon.

Tonight, I am back to the kid-sitting thing.   I really need for this week to move along quickly so that I can get back to the things that I need to be doing around here.   We haven’t got a tree.   Heck, we don’t even have the vacant space required to display even a tiny one.  That problem can be remedied by a little housework and some re-arranging of furniture, but it’s so hard to start something like that when I’m on call (and the phone could ring any minute), have scheduled upgrades (more work related stuff), and have kid-sitting duties to resume at 6PM.  I miss my apartment.   Even though I am here, my time is not my own.  It doesn’t feel like home this way.   One more week of this stuff and then I’ll have a week where I’m not on call and I don’t have any other responsibilities (aside from the daily trek to the office).   I know that change will be good for my soul.

I haven’t been doing the POTD thing because of this kid-sitting thing.   I wish I could, but it’s too difficult to manage everything at once.   So I’m going to share an older image that I shot in August 2007.    I found myself up late last night, reviewing old photographs and pulling good ones from the tangled mess of files on my external hard drive.  I discovered that I had a handful of shots from New Years Eve 2006 that I’d never even looked at.  I had simply transferred them off of the card and onto the drive.  There they sat for nearly two years.   Yeah.  That happens with a lot of things around here.
Anyway, I’ve posted those images here and have added in a few others that I’ve discovered in my archives.  It’s not the current POTD fare, but for now- it’ll have to do.

From the archive- a reminder of warmer times.

Moving to the Country, Gonna Eat a Lot of Peaches.

Writing by jennifer on Sunday, 22 of October , 2006 at 2:26 am

A couple of months ago, we housesat for friends. They have a large piece of property with lots of fruit trees. We went out to pick cherries early in the morning and of course, I brought my camera. I was hoping to capture a shot of one of the many bunnies or deer that frequent the area. Instead, I found this scene.
Too bad I don’t eat cherries, plums, or peaches.  They had a ton of them!

The Girl Behind the Lens

I am a road tripping camera junkie trying to break free of the 9-5 work-week.

I am also a single mother to a teenage daughter who is trying to break free of me.

.... somehow, I don't think either of us will escape unscathed.
