Through My Hands Like Air

I just received a notice of payment due in the amount of $663.60 from the State of California Franchise Tax Board for tax year 1994. By all recollection, I paid my income taxes back in 1995 after moving up here to Oregon. I likely paid with a money order, as I may not have had my checking account yet. How in the Hell am I to find all this information TWELVE YEARS LATER? It’s bloody ridiculous!

On a happier note, I did turn in my beeper pay reimbursement request. Intererstingly enough, before taxes, I am due $683.00, just enough to pay this ridiculous tax charge. But I know I won’t get that much- I’ll be lucky if I see $400 after taxes and any funds I do see are covering Christmas. Call me Scrooge, but while I love the spirit and tradition of the holiday, I do hate spending mass amounts of cash- just because it’s expected. I love to give gifts, but I prefer them to be well thought out and if possible, a complete surprise to the recipient. Ah, I’ll survive. I always do! :-)

The weather is warming up here in the Willamette Valley. It’s supposed to be sunny tomorrow afternoon. I’m hoping to get out of work a bit early and go for a hike. I really need the exercise and it would be so nice to finally get out of the house and moving again. If we’re lucky, it won’t rain for our parade on Saturday. It’d be nice to be able to enjoy the show without being soaked.

I’m fairly certain that Little One has ear mites. If I have to take her in for treatment, I’ll have to take Mufassa too- even though he has no symptoms. We treated her once before and it looks like they’re back. I can only assume that he had them and gave them back to her. Poor thing. Still, there’s another $200 for vet visits. But, the kitties deserve good care, so I guess I’ll be making that call.

The Girl Behind the Lens

I am a road tripping camera junkie trying to break free of the 9-5 work-week.

I am also a single mother to a teenage daughter who is trying to break free of me.

.... somehow, I don't think either of us will escape unscathed.
