Girls Gone Wild

I think back as far as I can remember and honestly, my idea of the perfect spring break is being somewhere in the eastern Sierras.  When I was younger, I might have preferred something lively, such as the streets of Reno, walking from casino to casino with drinks in hand…   Now, it’s the solitude of my favorite places- Lake Tahoe, Mono Lake, and The Alabama Hills.  Just Sami and me- a different kind of “Girls Gone Wild”.

This afternoon, I turned in my vacation request for the week of spring break (at the end of March).   I’m fairly certain that I’ll get it.  I’ve marked my calendar.   I’m organizing camping and camera gear.   It’s still two months off, but I’m getting ready.    I’ve  been ready for so long.  It’s just my stuff  that’s not yet ready.

I love the anticipation that comes before a road trip almost as much as the actual road trip, itself.   The anticipation.  The possibilites.   The unknown.   The beauty of it all.

The Girl Behind the Lens

I am a road tripping camera junkie trying to break free of the 9-5 work-week.

I am also a single mother to a teenage daughter who is trying to break free of me.

.... somehow, I don't think either of us will escape unscathed.
