From the Outside, Looking In

I have a ‘thing’ about storefronts. When I was younger, I wanted to be a forest ranger, a cinematographer, a police officer, and a window dresser. I have always lingered in front of lavish department store window displays and ooh-ed and ahhh-ed over displays in boutiques and florist shoppes.

It should then be no surprise that I’ve lately taken to the streets of Corvallis, enjoying the holiday displays in downtown shops. They cannot compete with Macy’s or Ann Taylor, but they’re very special in their own right.

Tonight was extra special as the fog was thick… making visibility very difficult and bringing an ominous glow to the streetlights. The weather limited my options, certainly. It was 29 degrees and I hadn’t dressed for the weather. But it was still a lovely way to close the day.

Elvis is alive and well in Corvallis, Oregon.

The King
Corvallis local, Elvis (Joe Mendonca) leans out to greet a young fan while participating in the Corvallis Downtown Holiday Parade.  Joe, a talented entertainer in his own right, can be booked via Above and Beyond Productions.

My ‘not quite’ a Photo A Day project continues.   I’ve been a bit remiss in getting new photos here every day, but have been posting them on my other blog fairly regularly.

I’ve got a lot that I could write about Thanksgiving, but need to get my rest for the work day tomorrow.  I’ll have to catch up on all that later, I suppose.

In the meantime, here is today’s photo:

The Girl Behind the Lens

I am a road tripping camera junkie trying to break free of the 9-5 work-week.

I am also a single mother to a teenage daughter who is trying to break free of me.

.... somehow, I don't think either of us will escape unscathed.
